About the role

The Director, Consulting Services is a senior leader responsible for shaping client relationships, overseeing delivery excellence, and expanding CGI's presence within the environmental field. This role sits at the intersection of mission-driven consulting and strategic business leadership, supporting organizations whose work advances environmental science, sustainability, natural resource management, conservation, climate initiatives, and environmental policy.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary relationship owner for clients working across environmental programs, research domains, and sustainability-focused missions.
  • Cultivate lasting partnerships by understanding client priorities, anticipating emerging needs, and offering insights into how CGI's capabilities can support their objectives.
  • Guide clients through complex challenges—whether related to environmental data management, scientific research systems, permitting and compliance workflows, conservation initiatives, climate resilience programs, or modernization of mission-support technologies.
  • Lead teams delivering technology, consulting, and operational solutions that enable environmental missions to operate effectively and efficiently.
  • Ensure engagements run smoothly, remain aligned to scope and budget, and deliver measurable results to clients and stakeholders.
  • Build and develop a strong consulting team by recruiting and onboarding new members, helping them grow their environmental expertise, and supporting their professional development through coaching, performance management, and opportunities that expand their skill sets.
  • Foster a team culture that encourages collaboration, knowledge sharing, and accountability.
  • Lead the operational and financial management of your portfolio, including forecasting, utilization planning, margin stewardship, and applying CGI's management frameworks to ensure predictability and stability.
  • Shape the long-term trajectory of the environmental practice, ensuring the organization is prepared to meet client needs while continuing to innovate and evolve.
  • Maintain and expand your environmental expertise by staying informed about developments in environmental science, climate priorities, sustainability strategies, ecological modeling, and data-driven environment.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, successful candidates have experience supporting environmental programs, research initiatives, scientific missions, or sustainability-driven organizations. They bring a strong foundation in consulting leadership paired with domain understanding—whether rooted in environmental science, policy, regulatory processes, climate work, ecological data, or environmental technology. They are persuasive communicators who can engage executives, technical experts, and delivery teams with equal confidence. They understand how to grow business opportunities, design effective solutions, and manage the financial health of their portfolio.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting environmental programs, research initiatives, scientific missions, or sustainability-driven organizations.
  • A strong foundation in consulting leadership paired with domain understanding—rooted in environmental science, policy, regulatory processes, climate work, ecological data, or environmental technology.
  • Persuasive communication skills to engage executives, technical experts, and delivery teams.
  • Understanding of how to grow business opportunities, design effective solutions, and manage the financial health of their portfolio.
  • Empathy, curiosity, strategic thinking, and the ability to translate complex environmental challenges into actionable strategies.

Skills

Successful candidates will bring a blend of environmental expertise and consulting leadership experience. This may include work in areas such as environmental data systems, sustainability planning, scientific modeling, conservation programs, climate resilience, or the modernization of mission-driven systems. Experience guiding multidisciplinary teams—spanning science, technology, policy, and operations—is a strong advantage. Candidates who have supported large, matrixed environmental organizations or have led portfolios spanning multiple environmental domains will be especially well positioned for this role.
