Director - Consultant Relations
About the Role
Leverage well-established industry knowledge to maintain and strengthen the firm's presence and relationships within the consultant community.
- Lead and help develop the Consultant Relations strategic approach toward dedicated alternative investment consulting firms and support the existing team with traditional consulting firms regarding Lord Abbett Alternative Investment capabilities.
- Partner with both the Institutional Sales Team and the Relationship Management Team to foster a high-trust environment of teamwork and collaboration in pursuit of goals and objectives.
- Act as primary relationship manager for global and national alternatives consulting firms by extending Lord Abbett resources to deliver differentiated solutions and best-in-class client experience.
- Drive engagement across consultant organizations, focusing primarily on Manager Research, Field Consultants, OCIO, and Senior Management to promote the firm and its investment capabilities.
- Understand the consultant research agenda, working with key partners to ensure internal awareness of trends to inform future product development.
- Represent Lord Abbett in the institutional marketplace and bring external themes back to the organization to keep the firm current with industry insights.
- Understand key competitors and industry trends.
- Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the firm, its culture, capital markets, and investment capabilities across fixed income, equity, and alternatives.
- Actively represent Lord Abbett at industry functions and conferences.
Requirements
- 7+ years of investment or consultant relations/sales/relationship management experience, with an emphasis on pre-existing knowledge and relationships within alternative markets, ideally gained from working at an institutional asset manager.
- Proactive, collaborative team player with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to organize, plan, and oversee concurrent initiatives with varying priorities.
- High sense of urgency, initiative, and self-motivation.
- Strong interpersonal, communication (written and verbal), and follow-up skills.
- Resourceful with excellent problem-solving skills.
- Ability to get buy-in from relevant constituents to make progress on key priorities.
- Demonstrated experience setting clear objectives, providing guidance, and giving open feedback.

Pay
Annual base salary for this role is $220,000–$240,000. Actual pay may vary. Role may be eligible to receive an annual discretionary bonus, determined by several factors including firm, team, and individual performance.
