Schedule
- Full Time, Salaried
- Shift: Monday-Friday with Rotation Supervisor On-Call
- Location: Central Florida Hospice
Responsibilities
- Develops, revises, and implements policies, procedures, and guidelines for clinical services.
- Responds to significant issues escalated by managers.
- Coordinates with the Director of Corporate Responsibility and Quality to ensure compliance and quality care.
- Promotes nursing excellence and tracks departmental metrics.
- Evaluates cost-effectiveness and recommends organizational improvements.
- Collaborates with management on employee interviewing, hiring, training, and coaching.
- Addresses complaints and resolves employee issues, holding staff accountable for performance and behavior.
- Plans, assigns, and directs work of supervised staff, rewards employees, and evaluates performance.
- Ensures completion of required orientation and training.
- Participates in meetings, seminars, and developmental activities.
- Develops, forecasts, and implements the department's fiscal budget, monitors and reports on variances.
- Assists managers in determining staffing levels.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of nursing skills in the performance of duties in compliance with the legal and ethical parameters established and based on the level of education and certification attained by the employee.
- Knowledge of patient database system (i.e. Homeworks).
- Knowledge of basic to intermediate application of Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook as well as internet software, with the addition of Visio, Teams, and OneDrive.
- Knowledge of business management, nonprofit management practices, and healthcare trends and technology.
- Knowledge of budget preparations, implementation, and fiscal management including the ability to analyze financial reports, data, and contracts.
- Knowledge of advanced supervisory/management practices and procedures.
- Ability to conduct interviews of prospective employees and communicate effectively both orally and in writing, making professional presentations.
- Knowledge of hospice services and support of the Biblical philosophy of compassionate caring.
- Knowledge of regulatory agencies governing hospice activities and pharmacy laws in all the states that the organization's pharmacies are licensed.
- Ability to manage difficult or emotional customer situations, work with culturally diverse groups of both genders, and be respectful and non-judgmental in all dealings with all individuals.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret government regulations involving all aspects of hospice care, general business periodicals, professional journals, or technical procedures.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of organization/employee/patient/family/caregiver information.
- Ability to write effective correspondence including letters, reports, and other documentation.
- Ability to operate standard office machines such as fax, copier, calculator, and mail machines.
- Ability to provide superior customer service to all contacts, including displaying superior customer service skills, acting as a role model, and maintaining composure under pressure to achieve positive outcomes.
- Demonstrated leadership, teaching abilities, and the ability to communicate in English.
- Ability to communicate to physician or office personnel regarding prescription clarifications, drug interactions, and appropriate uses of medications in a professional manner.
- Good decision-making skills, expert problem-solving skills, problem analysis, and discernment under pressure.
- Ability to develop and leverage relationships within and across work groups to achieve results and handle high volumes of work, frequent interruptions, multiple projects, responding quickly to emergencies, teamwork, making critical decisions, dealing with irate individuals, working independently, and adapting to changes in the work environment.
- Expected to communicate consistently in a positive and professional manner, giving accurate information to all external as well as internal customers, and providing oral and written communication using sensitivity, good judgment, and a caring attitude.
Qualifications
- Master's of Nursing required.
- 5+ years of previous experience in all aspects of acute care nursing and a minimum of two years of experience in a similar role required.
- Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
- Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) required.
