Director, Clinical Program - School Health Initiative

University of Miami/UHealth Department of Pediatrics is seeking a full-time Director of Clinical Programs for the School Health Initiative in Miami, FL.

About the Role

The Director of Clinical Programs develops, plans, and coordinates administrative activities for assigned facilities. This role leads education and outreach initiatives, including classes, seminars, conferences, support groups, and special events, while executing community relations strategies to expand outreach and increase patient awareness.

Responsibilities

• Administers day-to-day operations of the center, serving as the primary point of contact for administrative issues.
• Leads the development and execution of initiatives aligned with the center’s objectives to provide information, education, counseling, guidance, support, and resources.
• Collaborates with senior administrators to solicit support for initiatives.
• Develops patient-centered resources and works collaboratively with staff to guide families using a team-based approach to treatment, training, evaluation, and follow-up.
• Creates and executes mentoring programs fostering relationships between past and current patients and their families.
• Collaborates on content development for newsletters, donor appeals, direct mail campaigns, websites, emails, blogs, and other publications.
• Maintains regular communication with department leadership regarding center activity, operational plans, and budgetary expenditures.
• Establishes and assesses internal controls and compliance with University policies and procedures, ensuring staff training on these controls.

Department-Specific Functions

• Strategic Program Leadership: Provides administrative and operational leadership for the School Health Initiative, including school-based health centers, telehealth services, integrated behavioral health programs, and community-based initiatives. Develops and implements strategic initiatives supporting program growth, sustainability, quality improvement, and operational excellence.
• Program Operations & Administration: Directs operational activities across multiple school-based clinical sites to ensure efficient, high-quality, and compliant service delivery. Oversees workflows, processes, and systems to support continuity of services and program objectives.
• Contract & Funder Management: Oversees fulfillment of contractual obligations and program deliverables for The Children’s Trust, Dr. John T. Macdonald Foundation, school district partners, and other funding agencies. Ensures timely preparation and submission of reports, performance measures, and program outcomes.
• Screening & Population Health Programs: Provides oversight of school-based screening initiatives, preventive health programs, and population health activities. Monitors screening performance, data quality, and program outcomes for continuous improvement.
• Financial & Resource Management: Assists with program budget development, resource allocation, and sustainability initiatives. Monitors utilization of equipment, technology, and operational resources to maximize efficiency.
• Program Coordination & Workforce Support: Coordinates operational activities across multidisciplinary teams and collaborates with clinical, administrative, school, and community partners. Supports onboarding, training, and orientation related to operational workflows and compliance standards.
• Technology, Data Systems & Infrastructure: Oversees implementation and optimization of program technology, telehealth systems, reporting platforms, and operational infrastructure. Ensures operational readiness of equipment and technology for clinical services.
• Quality Improvement & Compliance: Leads operational quality improvement initiatives and performance monitoring. Utilizes dashboards, metrics, audits, and stakeholder feedback to identify improvement opportunities.
• Stakeholder Engagement & Partnership Management: Serves as the primary operational liaison with Miami-Dade County Public Schools, The Children’s Trust, community organizations, and institutional partners. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships supporting program success.
• Program Development & Expansion: Identifies opportunities for innovation, growth, and expansion of School Health Initiative services. Leads operational planning and implementation of new initiatives, clinic sites, and grant-funded projects.
• Data Analytics & Reporting: Utilizes operational, clinical, and performance data for decision-making and strategic planning. Oversees development and dissemination of reports, dashboards, and performance analyses for leadership and stakeholders.
• Committee Participation & Representation: Represents the School Health Initiative at institutional, community, funder, and school district meetings. Participates in strategic planning and multidisciplinary committees.
• Policies, Procedures & Operational Governance: Oversees development, implementation, and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), workflows, and operational manuals. Ensures consistent implementation of policies across all program sites.
• Performs additional responsibilities consistent with the leadership and operational functions of the position.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Nursing, Education, or a related field (required).
• Master’s degree in Public Health (MPH), Healthcare Administration (MHA), Business Administration (MBA), Education, or a related field (preferred).
• Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in school health, education, community health, or program management.
• Experience managing grants, contracts, operational reporting, and performance metrics (preferred).
• Strong leadership, organizational, and project management skills.
• Ability to manage complex operational initiatives across multiple locations.
• Demonstrated experience using data and performance metrics to drive operational improvement.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, reporting systems, telehealth technologies, and data management platforms.
• Knowledge of healthcare operations, school health programs, quality improvement methodologies, and compliance requirements.
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to build collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
