About the role
The Director, Clinical Development is responsible for leading clinical evidence programs, strategic partnerships, and organizational excellence in Philips Oral Healthcare.
Responsibilities
- Spearheads the development and execution of comprehensive clinical research programs in collaboration with clinical, academic, and industry partners.
- Oversees the largest and most complex initiatives in clinical research.
- Mentors and inspires a clinical team of 5 members based in the Netherlands (Eindhoven/Drachten).
- Manages workforce structuring, budgetary planning, and methodological innovations to drive organizational excellence.
- Strategically interprets and disseminates evidence derived from clinical development, engaging with regulatory bodies and stakeholders.
- Manages the Clinical Affairs Annual Operating Plan (AOP), overseeing fiscal allocations, resource distribution, and expenditure priorities.
- Shapes strategies and value propositions within clinical affairs, leveraging insights to drive innovation and define organizational priorities.
- Maintains and builds networks within the domain, collaborating with senior stakeholders both within Philips and across the ecosystem.
- Empowers and collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to deliver dynamic clinical evidence programs, aligning with strategic imperatives and industry-leading practices.
Requirements
- Minimum 10+ years of experience in designing, executing, and overseeing clinical research/development within FDA-regulated medical device/medtech environments.
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in strategic/functional leadership of clinical teams/organizations, including mentoring, budgeting, training, succession planning, hiring, performance management, and professional development of team members.
- Proven experience working within complex organizational structures, demonstrating the ability to navigate and manage multifaceted processes, relationships, and workflows effectively.
- Proven ability to effectively manage and engage with internal/external stakeholders, fostering collaboration and alignment across teams and departments, paired with strong change management skills to successfully implement and guide organizational transformations.
- Minimum Master's Degree in Life Science or comparable disciplines (Medical Biology, Biomedical Sciences, or Medicine is highly preferred).

- Strong understanding of Health Care Research methodology, relevant regulations, laws, and guidance in major markets like EU, USA, UK, AUS, Japan, and China.

- Effective change management skills.
- Leadership and mentorship experience.

Pay
The pay range for this position in Bothell, WA is $192,000 to $306,000. Compensation is dependent on various factors including job-related knowledge/skills, experience, business needs, geographical location, and internal equity.
Schedule
This is an Office-based role requiring full-time presence in the company's facilities.
