Clinical Director

USPI Memorial Hermann Surgery Center Main Street is seeking a motivated Clinical Director to join our team. We have 5 OR rooms and 2 Treatment rooms and perform outpatient surgical procedures in Bariatrics, Colonoscopy, Gastroenterology, General, Gynecology, Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, ENT, Otology, Pain Management, Spine, and Urology.

About the role

The Clinical Director is responsible for overseeing and developing the ambulatory surgical center’s clinical departments through key tasks such as hiring, evaluating, mentoring, scheduling, and supervision. This professional is expected to implement staff development programs, quality assurance, and monitor budgets for service programs. They must also work with other members of the management team, communicate effectively, and develop strategies to manage program growth and ensure business sustainability.

The right candidate should demonstrate the ability to generate revenues for clinical services, have experience in client billings, and knowledge of regulations such as Joint Commission and CMS standards of care. The role requires excellent critical thinking skills, emotional intelligence, and the ability to solve problems quickly and effectively.

Schedule

Position requires weekdays only — no holidays, weekends, or call. Some early mornings and later evenings may be required; schedule is subject to change based on the surgical schedule and flow of the day.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and develop clinical departments through hiring, evaluating, mentoring, scheduling, and supervision
• Implement staff development programs and quality assurance initiatives
• Monitor budgets for service programs and fiscal performance
• Work with the management team to communicate effectively and plan strategies for program growth
• Ensure business sustainability and generate revenues for clinical services
• Manage client billings and adhere to regulations such as Joint Commission and CMS standards of care
• Attend all mandatory in-services, meetings, and annual Safety and Competency education sessions
• Act in accordance with the vision, mission, and business of the Center
• Demonstrate strong organizational, program development, and basic computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office suite)

Requirements

• Graduate of a professional school of Nursing
• BSN required; MSN preferred
• Current license as a Texas Registered Nurse
• Current certification in BLS and Advanced Cardiac Life Support
• 2-5 years’ operating room experience
• At least two years’ supervisory experience in the outpatient surgery area
• Good command of the English language, both verbal and written
• Ability to work well with physicians, employees, patients, and others
• Knowledge, skills, and abilities of a Staff Nurse

Ambulatory experience is not necessary but is a plus. Preference for surgical experience in pre-op/PACU or perioperative nursing.
