Responsibilities
- Administering the operations and activities of Business Services.
- Planning and implementing business practices to make Nassau BOCES operations more effective and efficient.
- Collaborating with internal Nassau BOCES departments.
- Serving as a resource for and a liaison with key administrators in all Nassau BOCES departments; effectively providing financial and other operational information and services; providing leadership to support the vision, mission and values of Nassau BOCES.
- Directing, managing and supervising professional support staff in executing the functions and responsibilities assigned.
- Supervising and evaluating all personnel in the department.
- Determining the Agency's informational needs.
- Working with other departments, including Human Resources, to prepare and/or analyze proposals and recommendations for changes in policy, improvements in business practices, organization, methods and procedures.
- Coordinating and assisting all Nassau BOCES operations for the submission of appropriate Applications for Services (COSERS).
- Assisting in the development and coordination of procedures and processes for the compilation and submission of the annual budgets of all Nassau BOCES departments.
- Assisting in the determination of costs to component school districts for all Nassau BOCES operations.
- Assisting in the development of the operating budget to reflect the Board's and District Superintendent's educational priorities.
- Assisting in the monitoring of accounting/financial processes to ensure the financial statements accurately reflect the Agency's financial position.
- Maintaining continuous contact with other organizations to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Developing and administering all debt service management functions, bond payments, borrowing funds and payment distribution.
- Assisting in the negotiation of contracts for the Agency, including financial analysis.
- Responding to inquiries from the Board, District Superintendent, senior administrative staff, other organizations and the media concerning financial and support activity issues.
- Supervising insurance policy register, coverage, claims, information for all property/casualty liability and compensation.
- Responsible for all business analytics required to monitor the financial position of the COSERS.
Requirements
- New York State Education Department Certification: School Business Administrator (SBA) or School District Business Leadership (SDBL).
- Three or more years of high-level central office experience in school district business administration.
- Private sector experience in finance, accounting and relevant fields preferred.
Pay
$227,970.00 (plus doctoral stipend of $3,575.00, if applicable). Compensation package is competitive and includes generous fringe benefits.
