About the role
National Arbitration and Mediation (NAM) is growing its relationships with personal injury law firms across the plaintiff and defense bar in New York. We're hiring a Business Development Director to build and deepen those relationships – connecting attorneys with the right NAM neutral for their case, and growing NAM's presence at firms we already work with.
Responsibilities
- Build relationships with attorneys at a defined group of plaintiff and defense firms across New York – mostly deepening relationships at firms NAM already works with, with some focus on new firms
- Get to know individual attorneys' case types and practice focus well enough to make specific, well-matched introductions to NAM neutrals
- Represent NAM at bar association events, ADR conferences, and in-person meetings – this role is built around where the relationships are, not a desk
- Keep your activity and relationships up to date in our CRM as you go – this is what makes your work visible and recognized, and it builds NAM's lasting record of these relationships, not just your own
- Partner closely with NAM's Panel Relations team – you'll stay aligned on which neutrals have room to grow, and share what you're hearing from firms, so panel development reflects real demand on the ground
- Work alongside NAM's broader growth efforts – your relationship-building complements ongoing marketing and demand-generation work in the personal injury space, as well as our internal sales team's own outreach into the market
- Build toward real outcomes over time – relationships established, introductions made, and ultimately case volume generated through the relationships you build
Requirements
- Existing relationships within the NY personal injury plaintiff and/or defense bar
- A background in ADR, legal services, court reporting, or a related legal-adjacent field
- Comfort and credibility in conversations with senior attorneys and general counsel, on either side of the bar
- A relationship-first mindset – you understand that trust comes before revenue, not the other way around
- Self-motivation and comfort managing your own calendar and travel in the field
Qualifications
- Self-motivation and comfort managing your own calendar and travel in the field
Skills
- Strong networking and relationship-building skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Proficiency in CRM systems
