Job Description
The Director, Strategic Business Development leads new-business acquisition ("hunting") and strategic partnership development across the Central and Western United States for Jubilant HollisterStier’s Contract Manufacturing Organization (CMO) division.
Reporting directly to the Head, Commercial Operations, this role owns the territory pipeline for complex sterile injectables (liquid/lyophilized fill-finish, biologics and CDO/Line 3–4 growth programs), converting qualified leads into signed programs while cultivating high-value, multi-program partnerships with pharmaceutical and biotech accounts headquartered in the region.
Territory & Pipeline Ownership (Central & West)
- Own and grow the Central & West US business-development pipeline, serving as the “front door” for new business and the single commercial point of accountability for the territory.
- Build and maintain a data-driven territory plan (target accounts, next steps, quarterly activities) aligned to the annual win target and Line 3/Line 4 commercialization priorities.
- Identify, qualify, and convert leads for parenteral drug programs — small molecule, biologics, vaccines, etc— progressing opportunities through Stage A/B gates to signature.
- Collaborate with Sales Operations on proposals, pricing, and quote SLAs, ensuring accurate and competitive submissions within committed timelines.
- Maintain disciplined CRM (Salesforce) hygiene — accurate pipeline, contact, and activity data — and deliver weekly territory reporting to the Head, Commercial Operations.
Strategic Partnerships & Account Development
- Develop strategic, multi-program partnerships with priority pharma/biotech accounts (e.g., large-pharma and high-growth biotech), driving milestone-based and long-term recurring revenue.
- Partner with Key Account Directors and Commercial Account Managers to transition newly signed "hunted" business into managed "farmed" relationships without loss of continuity.
- Represent JHS at conferences, seminars, and customer visits (e.g., CPHI and targeted BD events) to expand market presence and industry perception in the region.
Leadership
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of regional BD Managers ("Hunters"), setting performance-based metrics and driving structured outreach cadence (hunting hours, cold-outreach leaderboard, ABM follow-up).
- Provide strategic insight and market intelligence to senior leadership to inform go-to-market strategy, site expansion, and CDO growth priorities.
