About the role
The Director of Business Development (DBD) is responsible for identifying new client opportunities, increasing referral activity within assigned region, developing new relationships, and expanding existing relationships that lead to larger opportunities for referral growth, both locally and nationally.
Responsibilities
- Drive the development of local, national, and international sales.
- Work closely with the Regional Account Management team to ensure new clients are treated to the highest standards of customer service to establish long-term relationships.
- Maintain consistent contact with clients; stay updated on industry standards and client expectations.
- Work independently and with others to develop and achieve superior customer service, market knowledge, and exceed company's revenue objectives.
- Focus on new business opportunities to increase referrals and revenue.
- Increase market share in underperforming accounts.
- Actively promote services, gather and exchange information to increase referral and revenue growth.
- Represent the company at industry functions, conferences, tradeshows, seminars, meetings, and organize/client entertainments.
- Evaluate the results of overall sales efforts regularly and report these results to the VP of Sales and VP of National Accounts.
- Continuously analyze the market and competition and identify external threats and opportunities; adapt sales strategy to changing conditions.
- Provide weekly, monthly, and/or quarterly updates as directed.
- Develop and deliver compelling presentations.
- Attend meetings and conferences and travel on an as-needed basis.
Requirements
- Bachelor degree in business, marketing, or sales; or five years related experience in outside sales claims management background is preferred.
- Valid state Driver’s License.
- Proficient in multiple software programs, including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and the Internet.
- Able to use intuition and experience to effectively market the company’s services.
- Able to develop and deliver compelling presentations.
- Able to problem solve and develop alternative solutions when dealing with client issues or emotional topics.
- Able to maintain confidentiality.
- Able to demonstrate team behavior and willing to promote a positive team-oriented environment.
- Able to follow all company policies and procedures in effect at time of hire and as they may change or be added from time to date.
