Director and Curator of the Kohl Gallery

About the role

The Director and Curator will design and implement a diverse program of exhibitions and events in Washington College's Kohl Gallery, complementing the College’s curriculum.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and oversee installation of all Kohl Gallery exhibitions
• Teach two courses per academic year in the Director’s areas of expertise
• Recruit and collaborate with artists, guest curators, and outside partners, as well as Washington College faculty
• Facilitate Studio Art majors' year-long Senior Capstone Experience and oversee student exhibitions
• Administer student interns and employees
• Manage budgetary and day-to-day operations of the gallery
• Engage in outreach to key constituencies on and off campus
• Identify and cultivate individual donors and foundation support

Qualifications

• A Master’s Degree in Studio Art, Art History, or a related field
• One to three years’ experience in a gallery, museum, or other comparable arts setting
• Preferred: MFA in Studio Art or PhD in Art History or a related field
• Experience working in an academic gallery setting
• Experience teaching at the college level
