About the role
The Director and Curator will design and implement a diverse program of exhibitions and events in Washington College's Kohl Gallery, complementing the College’s curriculum.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and oversee installation of all Kohl Gallery exhibitions
- Teach two courses per academic year in the Director’s areas of expertise
- Recruit and collaborate with artists, guest curators, and outside partners, as well as Washington College faculty
- Facilitate Studio Art majors' year-long Senior Capstone Experience and oversee student exhibitions
- Administer student interns and employees
- Manage budgetary and day-to-day operations of the gallery
- Engage in outreach to key constituencies on and off campus
- Identify and cultivate individual donors and foundation support
Qualifications
- A Master’s Degree in Studio Art, Art History, or a related field
- One to three years’ experience in a gallery, museum, or other comparable arts setting
- Preferred: MFA in Studio Art or PhD in Art History or a related field
- Experience working in an academic gallery setting
- Experience teaching at the college level
