About the role
The Director – ADME Metabolism provides leadership to staff responsible for the scientific conduct of ADME and Metabolic Identification projects. This position carries a 50% workload as Study Director within the ADME Metabolism team and ensures annual financial, quality, scientific, and client service targets are achieved.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the scientific quality and expertise of the department.
- Consult with clients on drug development needs and design appropriate drug metabolism studies or programs.
- Collaborate with sales and marketing to meet financial and budget expectations.
- Develop and execute a strategic plan to identify areas for scientific focus, capital, and staffing to meet business growth objectives across global sites.
- Tactically assign resources (personnel, space, equipment), implement programs, and drive process improvement to meet financial and budget goals.
- Initiate, plan, and implement staff development programs to meet present and future department needs.
- Implement affirmative action, salary administration, and communication programs within the department.
- Identify opportunities for synergistic leverage across all chemistry service offerings.
- Create an employee-empowered work environment that is stimulating and rewarding while addressing deficient performance decisively.
Requirements
- Master of Science degree in biochemistry, pharmacology, or toxicology, with 10+ years of experience as a Scientist, Development Scientist, Chemist, Study Director, or Director in the pharmaceutical industry.
- 5+ years of experience in ADME and Metabolic Identification studies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ph.D. in biochemistry, pharmacology, toxicology, or a related field, with 10+ years of experience as a Scientist, Development Scientist, Chemist, Study Director, or Director in the pharmaceutical industry.
- 8+ years of experience in ADME and Metabolic Identification studies.
- 3+ years of experience as a manager or director.
- 3+ years of experience as a Study Director.
Skills
- Basic understanding of pharmacokinetics, ADME concepts, and biotransformation pathways.
- Proficiency in pharmacokinetics and ADME principles for both small and large molecules.
- Strong background in enzyme kinetics and enzyme-mediated chemical reactions.
- Strong understanding of biotransformation and bioactivation mechanisms of drug-metabolizing enzymes.
- Basic understanding of mass spectrometry principles for structural elucidation of small and large molecules.
- Proficiency with WinNonlin and ChemDraw.
- Ability to effectively lead Scientists and Study Directors.
- Ability to manage a team’s workflow and develop talent.
- Ability to effectively perform presentations and lead meetings.
- Ability to manage time, planning, and budgeting.
Pay
Pay range: $120,000 – $180,000 annually (USD). All job offers will be based on a candidate’s skills, prior relevant experience, applicable degrees/certifications, internal equity, and market data. The position is also eligible for an annual bonus under the Labcorp Bonus Plan, payable based on corporate and/or business segment performance and individual performance modifiers.
