About the role

We are seeking a Director of Corporate Accounting to lead and scale our corporate accounting function. This highly visible leadership role ensures the integrity, scalability, and efficiency of our accounting operations and financial reporting. The ideal candidate is a technically strong accounting leader who thrives in a high-growth environment, can operate strategically while remaining detail-oriented, and has experience building scalable processes and teams.

Responsibilities

  • Own the corporate accounting function, including the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
  • Ensure accurate and timely preparation of financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
  • Lead accounting for complex transactions, including equity, stock-based compensation, acquisitions, revenue arrangements, leases, and other technical accounting matters.
  • Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Partner closely with FP&A, Finance, Tax, Treasury, Legal, and other cross-functional teams to ensure accurate and complete financial information.
  • Serve as a key accounting advisor to the CFO and broader finance leadership team.
  • Build a scalable accounting infrastructure capable of supporting continued rapid growth and increasing transaction complexity.
  • Identify opportunities to automate and streamline accounting processes, reduce manual work, and improve close timelines.
  • Evaluate and optimize the company's accounting systems, ERP, and related financial technology.
  • Establish clear ownership, documentation, and controls across the accounting organization.
  • Lead initiatives to improve the quality, timeliness, and accessibility of financial data.
  • Lead the relationship with the company's external auditors and manage the annual audit process.
  • Coordinate quarterly and annual financial reporting requirements.
  • Develop the company's internal control environment, including preparation for potential SOX requirements and public-company readiness.
  • Partner with Legal and Finance leadership on compliance, governance, and corporate reporting matters.
  • Ensure appropriate accounting documentation and audit support are maintained.
  • Partner with the CFO and finance leadership team on strategic initiatives, financing transactions, acquisitions, and other corporate activities.
  • Support the company through future fundraising, M&A activity, and other significant corporate transactions.
  • Provide accounting insight and analysis to support business and investment decisions.
  • Help establish the accounting organization, processes, and controls necessary for the company's next phase of growth.
  • Lead, develop, and scale a high-performing accounting team.
  • Establish clear expectations, processes, and performance metrics for the accounting organization.
  • Recruit and develop accounting talent as the company grows.
  • Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA strongly preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including significant experience in a leadership role.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and technical accounting.
  • Experience leading corporate accounting and financial reporting for a high-growth company.
  • Experience working in a venture-backed, private-equity-backed, or similarly fast-growing environment.
  • Experience managing external audits and building strong relationships with auditors.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and implementing scalable accounting processes and internal controls.
  • Experience with equity accounting and stock-based compensation.
  • Strong systems orientation and experience implementing or optimizing an ERP and related finance systems.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to partner effectively with executives and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to operate both strategically and at a detailed level in a fast-paced environment.

Pay

Determining compensation for this role depends upon a wide array of factors including the individual's skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location, and other geographic considerations, as well as business and organizational needs. The salary range for this role is provided as required by local law. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses and can participate in medical, dental, and vision benefits as well as the company's 401(k) retirement plan.
