A Day in the Life of a Residential Direct Support Professional - DSP

As a Residential Direct Support Professional (DSP), you will support individuals with developmental disabilities in living independently and fully. Your role includes assistance with daily living tasks such as:

• Medication assistance
• Hygiene and grooming
• Shopping and meal preparation
• Transportation and housekeeping
• Life skills training (financial management, behavior management)
• Community access and participation (employment, relationships, recreational activities)

You will model appropriate social skills and behaviors while helping individuals lead self-fulfilling lives.

Qualifications

• 18 years or older
• Valid driver’s license and reliable personal vehicle preferred
• Ability to drive large vehicles
• Punctual, reliable, and self-disciplined
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Discretion with confidential information
• Compassion with professional boundaries
• Calm, flexible, and patient demeanor
• Ability to work well as part of a team

Pay

$16.50/hour

Schedule

Part-time:

• Saturday: 8:00 am – 2:00 pm
• Sunday: 8:00 am – 2:00 pm

Full-time (32 hours per week):

• Friday: 2:00 pm – 10:00 pm
• Saturday: 2:00 pm – 10:00 pm
• Sunday: 2:00 pm – 10:00 pm
• Monday: 2:00 pm – 10:00 pm

Swing and morning shifts can be mixed and matched (morning shifts are 6 hours; swing shifts are 8 hours).
