DIRECT SUPPORT PROFESSIONAL - PT/16hrs.
About the role
The Direct Support Professional will follow agency policies and participate in related goals and plans that promote inclusion and social and emotional growth for the individuals we support. The DSP is responsible for the health, well-being, and development of those served and collaborates with other staff to provide the best possible care.
Responsibilities
- Follow agency policies and related goals to promote inclusion and social/emotional growth
- Provide care and support to individuals we serve
- Create, implement, and update Positive Behavior Support Plans and ISP goals
- Support IMPACT mission, vision, and guiding principles
Requirements
- Valid CT Driver's License and reliable vehicle with current CT registration and insurance
- CPR/First Aid, PMT, and DDS Medication Administration Certification
- Essential physical skills: running, squatting, stooping/bending, kneeling, climbing stairs, lifting at least 50 pounds, pushing/pulling against potential resistance, implementing non-physical and physical interventions, and performing CPR
Qualifications
- Minimum of a High School Diploma/GED
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in psychology, human services, or related field preferred
- At least 3-5 years of job experience preferred but will train motivated candidates
Skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Knowledge of positive behavior support and individualized service plans
