DIRECT SUPPORT PROFESSIONAL - PT/16hrs.

About the role

The Direct Support Professional will follow agency policies and participate in related goals and plans that promote inclusion and social and emotional growth for the individuals we support. The DSP is responsible for the health, well-being, and development of those served and works in conjunction with other staff members to provide the best possible care.

Responsibilities

  • Follow agency policies and related goals
  • Participate in promoting inclusion and social and emotional growth
  • Provide care for individuals served
  • Work with other staff members to ensure quality care
  • Create, implement, and update Positive Behavior Support Plans and ISP goals
  • Support IMPACT mission, vision, and guiding principles

Requirements

  • Valid CT Driver's License and reliable vehicle with current CT registration and insurance
  • CPR/First Aid, PMT, and DDS Medication Administration Certification
  • Essential physical skills to run, squat, stoop/bend, kneel, climb stairs, lift at least 50 pounds, push/pull against potential resistance, and implement non-physical and physical intervention and CPR

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma/GED
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in psychology, human services, or related field preferred
  • At least 3-5 years of job experience preferred but will train motivated candidates

Skills

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Knowledge of positive behavior support and individualized service plans
  • Physical stamina and ability to perform essential physical tasks
