DIRECT SUPPORT PROFESSIONAL - PT/16hrs.

About the role

The Direct Support Professional will follow agency policies and participate in related goals and plans that promote inclusion and social and emotional growth for the individuals we support. The DSP is responsible for the health, well-being, and development of those they serve and works in conjunction with other staff members to provide the best possible care.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the creation, implementation, and updating of Positive Behavior Support Plans and ISP goals.
  • Support the IMPACT mission, vision, and guiding principles.

Requirements

  • Valid CT Driver's License and reliable vehicle with current CT registration and insurance.
  • CPR/First Aid, PMT, and DDS Medication Administration Certification.
  • Essential physical skills including running, squatting, stooping/bending, kneeling, climbing stairs, lifting at least 50 pounds, pushing/pulling against potential resistance, and implementing non-physical and physical interventions and CPR.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in psychology, human services, or related field preferred.
  • At least 3-5 years of job experience preferred but will train motivated candidates.

Skills

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of positive behavior support strategies.
