Direct Support Professional -Periodic FT

Job Responsibilities

• Provides support for individuals and/or groups of persons with disabilities in residential and community settings.
• Implements services and supports to address the person’s goals identified through each person’s Individual Support Plan.
• Affirms the person(s) receiving services in identifying and communicating his or her requests and needs for services and supports.
• Works with an interdisciplinary healthcare team to identify the appropriate support methods necessary to achieve the stated goals.
• Assists them with the implementation of personal plans, goals, and objectives; working with them to facilitate their communication in terms of needs and requests.
• Assists and instructs on food preparation and house cleaning.
• Helps clients to identify and acquire valued social roles, as well as healthy personal and social habits.
• Continuously assesses the functional levels for your client, motivates clients and provides consistent reinforcement, assessments, and feedback for all learning activities.
• Dispenses medication, monitors dosages and makes notes in charts in accordance with your level of training.
• Supports clients at vocational sites to help meet their responsibilities.
• All other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

• A High School Diploma or G.E.D., or an Associate Degree in a health related area.
• Two years’ experience in a health related field.
• Experience working with individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities preferred.
• A valid drivers’ license and automotive insurance.
• A flexible schedule and availability to provide on-call coverage as needed.
• Provide CPR after certification.
• CPR, first aid, NCI and/or MedTech certification, a plus.
