About the Role
The Active Treatment Coordinator works under the direct supervision of the Active Treatment Coordinator Supervisor, providing moderately complex human services support in a State Supported Living Center. The role involves organizing and coordinating age‑appropriate leisure activities, monitoring quality of services, preparing reports, maintaining recreational supplies, and driving a state‑owned vehicle.
Responsibilities
- Organize and coordinate leisure activities for individuals served that are age‑appropriate, based on individualized interests, and meaningful to their goals.
- Monitor that individuals receive a variety of quality leisure opportunities on campus and in the community.
- Provide information to individuals and staff about on‑ and off‑campus activities.
- Follow up with individuals and staff to verify activity quality and adjust services to better meet needs and preferences.
- Prepare and submit feedback reports to the Active Treatment Coordinator Supervisor regarding ongoing monitoring of activities and services.
- Work closely with the Active Treatment Coordinator Supervisor and Recreation Program Manager.
- Maintain inventory and order recreational supplies for each assigned home unit.
- Develop innovative ideas to ensure individuals are engaged in meaningful, functional activities.
- Monitor scheduled activities to ensure quality delivery of active treatment services.
- Drive a state‑owned vehicle as required.
- Attend work regularly; may be required to work specific, rotating, extended, or overtime shifts in accordance with agency policy.
- Establish and maintain positive, supportive relationships with individuals served, their families, and employees.
- Provide oversight of activities and follow up to ensure quality active treatment and satisfaction.
- Prepare written documentation and reports on activity monitoring and outcomes, quarterly or as requested.
- Maintain professional communication with supervisors, recreational managers, and home managers.
- Ensure availability of supplies and resources necessary for functional activities.
- Assist with transporting individuals to scheduled activities and in emergency situations.
- Inspect workspaces and equipment for hazardous conditions and take corrective action.
- Participate in disaster response, recovery, or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation as needed, which may require alternate shift patterns or locations.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Make decisions and use good judgment during critical incidents.
- React quickly and calmly in emergency situations.
- Demonstrate proper body mechanics, posture, and lifting techniques.
- Knowledge of individual care techniques, treatment, therapy, and developmental programs (or willingness to learn through training).
- Provide individual care, administer first aid and/or CPR, perform Ukeru (once trained), and conduct Safe Use of Restraint (SUR).
- Communicate effectively and train/mentor/coach others.
- Work effectively as a team member.
Licensure and Certifications
- Valid Texas driver’s license (or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire).
- Eligible driving record per HHSC Fleet Management policy.
- Applicants with an out‑of‑state driver’s license must provide an original certified driving record from the licensing state.
Qualifications
- One year experience in direct individual care work **or** graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent.
- Pass a fingerprint criminal background check, pre‑employment drug screen, and registry checks (including CANRS, Nurse Aide, Medication Aide, Employee Misconduct, and LEIE).
- Males ages 18‑25 must be registered with the Selective Service.
- All State Supported Living Center employees are subject to random drug testing.
- Flexibility in work hours; may be required to work overtime, extended hours, weekends, and holidays.
- Must be at least 18 years of age to be considered for employment at a state‑operated facility.

Pay
Salary Range: $3,649.83 – $4,594.50 per month (pay frequency: monthly). Salary Group: TEXAS‑A‑14. Position is non‑exempt.
Schedule
- Shift: Day (regular schedule; may require rotating or extended shifts).
- Full‑time, regular position.
- Not eligible for telework.
- Travel: Up to 5%.
