About the role
Behavior Specialist Assistants provide direct support to individuals with unique behavioral and/or mental health challenges. In this role, you will ensure residents are living a safe, healthy, and fulfilled life. This position supports continued development of skills and abilities while respecting and celebrating individuals’ culture, talents, and contributions, following the Individual and Behavior Support Plan. The goal is to provide each member with a comfortable, safe home, keeping them closely connected to family members, friends, and their community. The Behavior Specialist Assistant is responsible for monitoring and collecting data.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the overall physical, psychological, and emotional health and safety of participants living in residential homes.
- Provide supports as written in the individual’s support plan, including personal care, physical lifting, and therapeutic holds.
- Assist with individuals’ environments, such as cleaning, laundry, shopping, cooking, and budgeting.
- Provide assistance to the Behavior Specialist and Clinical Director in developing teaching procedures for goals and objectives in the Individual Support Plan.
- Assist the Behavior Specialist in analyzing data and developing graphic data presentations to determine program effectiveness.
- Facilitate and monitor crisis intervention and prevention responses when indicated.
- Encourage the development of new relationships and community engagement.
- Follow clinical orders and ensure medications and treatments are administered according to proper medical procedures.
Training
- Paid New Employee Orientation.
