We serve children and adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities, children experiencing mental health challenges, children who cannot remain at home and require foster care placement, and children who are Unaccompanied Refugee Minors who come to the United States from around the world and whose lives have been torn apart due to conflict and oppression.
Responsibilities
- Serve as an advocate for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
- Assist with personal care needs and provide supervision.
- Act as a role model to clients residing in a group home setting or in the community.
- Assist clients in day‑to‑day routines and teach skills necessary to achieve their maximum potential as defined in their care plans.
- Help maintain the household, including meal preparation, cooking, cleaning, and shopping.
- Serve as a positive liaison between outside service providers, parents, and others who have a relationship with clients.
- Provide transportation for program needs and recreational activities.
- Create and maintain a meaningful environment to help others live their best possible life.
Requirements
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Valid New York State driver’s license with 4 points or less.
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Human Services preferred.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities, or in another human‑service or health‑care field, OR an Associate’s degree in Human Services or a related field.
- Successful completion of OPWDD fingerprinting clearance is required.
