Direct Support professional Full-time

About the Role

This position provides direct programming and support—including dietary, laundry, toileting, housekeeping, and other assistance—to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in ICF, Supported Living, and Respite programs.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing and implementing Individual Plans (IPs) in ICF programs.
• Implement specific care requirements for consumers in Supported Living and Respite.
• Document formal IP programs and other programmatic requirements in ICF.
• Complete required documentation of services performed in Supported Living and Respite.
• Perform household chores to supplement resident training or competence, including:
  • Preparing shopping lists for food and dietary supplies.
  • Shopping for food and dietary supplies.
  • Laundering, folding, ironing, and storing residents’ clothing.
  • Maintaining inventories of laundry and cleaning supplies.
  • Purchasing and storing laundry and cleaning supplies as directed.
• Assist residents with cleaning bedrooms, bathrooms, closets, and other personal spaces.
• Prepare or assist with nutritious meals as directed by a Dietician, ensuring a positive dining experience.
• Maintain accountability and inventory of food and dietary supplies, including proper labeling.
• Ensure food preparation, storage, and dining areas are clean and sanitary; assist residents with cleaning shared areas (e.g., living room, kitchen, den, garage).
• Promote the safety, health, and well-being of residents by:
  • Reporting and documenting unsafe conditions and injuries.
  • Interacting positively with residents to foster a home-like atmosphere.
• Attend in-service training programs and staff meetings.
• Manage resident funds, inventory clothing and personal possessions, and assist with clothing purchases or repairs.
• Transport clients using Boundless vehicles or a personal vehicle.
• Perform delegated nursing tasks as required.
• Maintain household compliance files for local, state, and federal standards.
• Report unusual incidents, medical situations, and perform first aid as trained.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English (spoken and written).
• Valid Ohio Driver’s License with Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles record; proof of auto insurance.
• Ability to obtain and maintain certifications in:
  • First Aid
  • CPR (adult, child, and infant)
  • Delegated nursing (training provided if not already certified).

Qualifications

• One year of experience working with intellectually/developmentally disabled individuals preferred.

• Balancing, standing, stooping, kneeling, pulling, pushing, reaching, lifting (up to 50 lbs.), carrying (up to 50 lbs.), crouching, crawling.

• Inside and outside environmental conditions.
• Exposure to bodily fluids and blood.
• Potential interaction with combative residents.
