About the Role
This position provides direct programming and support—including dietary, laundry, toileting, housekeeping, and other assistance—to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in ICF, Supported Living, and Respite programs.
Responsibilities
- Assist in developing and implementing Individual Plans (IPs) in ICF programs.
- Implement specific care requirements for consumers in Supported Living and Respite.
- Document formal IP programs and other programmatic requirements in ICF programs.
- Complete required documentation of services performed in Supported Living and Respite.
- Perform household chores to supplement resident training or competence, including:
- Assisting with preparation of shopping lists for food and dietary supplies.
- Shopping for food and dietary supplies.
- Laundering, folding, ironing, and storing residents’ clothing.
- Maintaining inventories of laundry and cleaning supplies.
- Purchasing and storing laundry and cleaning supplies as directed.
- Assisting residents with cleaning bedrooms, bathrooms, closets, and shared areas (e.g., living room, kitchen, den, screened porch, patio, garage storage).
- Assist consumers with meal preparation or prepare nutritious meals as directed by a Dietician.
- Provide a positive dining experience for residents and maintain accountability of food and dietary supplies.
- Ensure proper labeling of stored and prepared food.
- Maintain clean and sanitary food preparation, storage, and dining areas.
- Ensure the safety, health, and well-being of all residents by:
- Reporting and documenting unsafe conditions and injuries.
- Interacting positively with residents and fostering a home-like atmosphere.
- Attend in-service training programs and staff meetings.
- Account for the expenditure of resident funds and assist in inventorying residents’ clothing and personal possessions.
- Accompany residents for clothing purchases and assist as needed; repair residents’ clothing.
- Transport clients as needed using Boundless vehicles or a personal vehicle.
- Perform delegated nursing tasks as required.
- Maintain household files for compliance with local, state, and federal standards.
- Report unusual incidents and medical situations; perform first aid and other procedures as trained.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English (both spoken and written).
- Valid Ohio Driver’s License with Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles; proof of auto insurance.
- Ability to obtain and maintain certifications in:
- First Aid.
- CPR (adult, child, and infant).
- Delegated nursing (training provided if not already certified).
Qualifications
- One year of experience working with intellectually/developmentally disabled individuals preferred.
Physical and Environmental Requirements
Physical Activities: Balancing, standing, stooping, kneeling, pulling, pushing, reaching, lifting (up to 50 lbs.), carrying (up to 50 lbs.), crouching, crawling.
Sensory and Communicative Activities: Feeling, hearing, speaking, seeing.
Environmental Conditions: Inside and outside environmental conditions, exposure to bodily fluids and blood, potential interaction with combative residents.
