About the Role

This position provides direct programming and support—including dietary, laundry, toileting, housekeeping, and other assistance—to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in ICF, Supported Living, and Respite programs.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing and implementing Individual Plans (IPs) in ICF programs.
  • Implement specific care requirements for consumers in Supported Living and Respite.
  • Document formal IP programs and other programmatic requirements in ICF; document services performed in Supported Living and Respite.
  • Perform household chores to supplement resident training or competence, including:
    • Preparing shopping lists for food and dietary supplies.
    • Shopping for food and dietary supplies.
    • Laundering, folding, ironing, and storing residents’ clothing.
    • Maintaining inventories of laundry and cleaning supplies.
    • Purchasing and storing laundry and cleaning supplies as directed.
    • Assisting residents with cleaning bedrooms, bathrooms, closets, and other areas.
  • Assist consumers with or prepare nutritious meals as directed by a Dietician; ensure a positive dining experience; maintain accountability and inventory of food supplies; label stored and prepared food properly.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation in food preparation, storage, and dining areas; assist residents with cleaning shared areas (e.g., living room, kitchen, den, screened porch, patio, garage).
  • Ensure the safety, health, and well-being of all residents; report and document unsafe conditions, injuries, and health concerns; interact positively with residents to foster a home-like atmosphere.
  • Attend in-service training programs and staff meetings; manage resident funds; inventory residents’ clothing and personal possessions; assist with clothing purchases and repairs.
  • Transport clients as needed using Boundless vehicles or a personal vehicle.
  • Perform delegated nursing tasks as required.
  • Maintain household compliance files; report unusual incidents and medical situations; perform first aid and other trained procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English (spoken and written).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain certifications in First Aid, CPR (adult, child, and infant), and delegated nursing (training provided if not already certified).
  • Valid Ohio Driver’s License with Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles; proof of auto insurance.
  • One-year experience working with intellectually/developmentally disabled individuals preferred.

Physical and Environmental Requirements

The physical activities for this position include:

  • Balancing, standing, stooping, kneeling, pulling, pushing, reaching.
  • Lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs.
  • Crouching and crawling.

The essential sensory and communicative activities include:

  • Feeling, hearing, speaking, and seeing.

Environmental conditions may include:

  • Inside and outside environmental conditions.
  • Exposure to bodily fluids and blood.
  • Interactions with combative residents.
