Direct Support Professional / Float

About the role

A Direct Support Professional Float (DSPF) caregiver is a position designed to provide fill-in or substitute coverage at any assigned service site and may be scheduled for hours that are vacant due to staff turnover, changes in scheduling or staff paid time off. Work assignments may be during any scheduled hours and at any sites where Dungarvin provides services.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on assistance, encouragement, mentoring, and guidance.
• Ensure the comfort, safety, and personal growth of the individuals we serve.
• Aid in daily living tasks such as moving around, getting in and out of bed, dressing, bathing, personal hygiene and more.
• Perform light housekeeping tasks and assist with meal preparation.
• Build relationships with persons served and teammates.
• Attend special community occasions and fun activities like outdoor walks, games, and social events.
• Transport persons served to appointments or other activities outside the home.
• Empower people with disabilities to live life to the fullest.
• Document progress, milestones, and action steps.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of prior experience working with individuals with disabilities.
• Person-centered, patient, and kind.
• Dependable, adaptable, and flexible.
• Observant and detail-oriented.
• Positive role-model for others and able to work on a team.
• Committed to creating a respectful and collaborative environment.
• Computer skills for documentation.
• Valid Drivers License (due to transporting persons served).
• Some positions / locations may require own personal vehicle and auto-liability insurance based on the role.
• 18 years or older.

Qualifications

• High School diploma/GED.
• Good communication skills are key in this role. You’ll rely on your reading, writing, and communication skills to document care, follow support plans, and collaborate with both internal and external team members.
