Waystone is seeking a dedicated direct care worker to provide essential support and companionship to individuals who need help with daily activities in a residential home setting in Methuen, MA.

About the Role

As a Residential Skills Instructor or Awake Overnight staff, you will assist four individuals (ages 22+) with activities of daily living (ADLs), including feeding, cooking, cleaning, personal hygiene, documentation, and medication administration. You will transport individuals to appointments and community activities using a wheelchair-accessible van. Overnight staff must remain alert, conduct wellness checks, and provide personal care support, including toileting assistance and brief changes.

Schedule

  • Part-time, 25+ hours per week
  • Benefit-eligible from date of hire
  • Sample schedule (MAP): Wednesday–Friday 9:00 AM–4:00 PM, Saturday 9:00 AM–8:00 PM, Sunday 9:00 AM–3:00 PM

Pay

Non-exempt position with an hourly rate of $21.63. Union membership with SEIU Local 509.

Responsibilities

  • Assist individuals with daily living activities, including personal hygiene (toileting, brief changes), bathing, dressing, feeding, grooming, transferring, and meal preparation.
  • Provide heavy lifting assistance and drive wheelchair-accessible company vans.
  • Transport individuals to appointments, community events, or recreational activities.
  • Complete Individual Support Plans (ISP) to promote independence and achieve personal goals.
  • Maintain daily logs, track behavioral data, and document services provided.
  • Administer medications and ensure accurate documentation.
  • Provide companionship, mentorship, and behavior redirection.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and supportive residential environment.
  • Uphold individuals’ rights, dignity, and confidentiality.
  • Manage staff-to-resident ratios, money management, home management, and behavior redirection.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend English for care plans, documentation, and communication.
  • Experience providing training, case management, or services to adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities.
  • MAP (Medication Administration Program) Certification (training provided within 6 months of hire).
  • CPR/First Aid Certification (training provided within 3 months of hire).
  • Valid Driver’s License with at least one year of driving experience.
