Waystone is seeking a dedicated direct care worker to provide essential support and companionship to individuals who need help with daily activities in a residential home setting in Haverhill, MA.

About the role

As a Residential Skills Instructor or Awake Overnight staff, you will assist four individuals (ages 22 and up) with activities of daily living, including feeding, cooking, cleaning, personal hygiene, documentation, and medication administration. You will transport individuals to appointments and community activities using a wheelchair-accessible van. During overnight hours, you will remain alert, conduct routine wellness checks, and provide personal care support such as toileting assistance and brief changes.

Schedule

  • Part-time, less than 25 hours per week
  • Monday: 5:00 PM – 11:00 PM
  • Wednesday: 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM
  • Saturday: 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM

Pay

Hourly rate: $21.63. This is a non-exempt position, and you will be a union member of SEIU Local 509.

Responsibilities

  • Assist individuals with daily living activities, including personal hygiene (toileting assistance/brief changing), bathing, dressing, feeding, grooming, transferring, and meal preparation
  • Assist with heavy lifting and driving wheelchair-accessible company vans
  • Transport individuals to appointments, community events, or recreational activities
  • Complete Individual Support Plans (ISP) to support personal goals and promote independence
  • Complete daily logs and notes, and track behavioral data
  • Assist with medication administration and maintain accurate documentation
  • Provide companionship, mentorship, and behavior redirection
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and supportive residential environment
  • Uphold individuals’ rights, dignity, and confidentiality at all times
  • Maintain the program’s staff-to-resident ratio, manage finances, provide home management, and redirect behaviors

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend English to follow care plans, document services, and communicate effectively with individuals, families, and healthcare professionals
  • Experience providing training, case management, or service delivery to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a community setting
  • MAP (Medication Administration Program) Certification (training provided by Waystone within 6 months of employment)
  • CPR/First Aid Certification (training provided by Waystone within 3 months of employment)
  • Valid Driver’s License in good standing with a minimum of one year of driving experience
