Direct Support Professional (DSP) / Caregiver

About the role

As a Direct Support Professional (DSP) / Caregiver, you will assist in a residential group home by helping people with disabilities achieve a variety of outcomes, assist with personal cares, and provide normalization/community integration. At some of our programs, you will offer support, guidance, and assistance to individuals with mental illness and interfering behaviors. You will have the ability to enhance the quality of life for individuals with complex mental health and behavioral support needs. Your aim is empowering individuals to live independently with dignity and respect.

• Support and mentorship with daily activities to those we support in a manner that ensures their health and safety. Some examples include helping with meals, cleaning, housekeeping, laundry duties, and facilitating fun activities.
• Hands-on mentoring to those we serve to help them become more independent.
• Provide positive direction to individuals to encourage them to achieve their personal goals.
• Administer medication and ensure the person's medical well-being.

No experience? If you meet the basic job requirements, we will provide the necessary paid training and hands-on experience.

Requirements

• Excitement for working with adults with disabilities
• At least 18 years old
• High school diploma or GED certificate
• Good communication skills (reading, writing, and verbal) to document care, follow support plans, and collaborate with team members
• Valid driver's license (due to transporting persons served)
• Successful background clearance as part of the onboarding/employment process
• Comfortable driving company vehicles to transport persons served as required
• Some positions/locations may require your own personal vehicle and auto-liability insurance based on the role

• Experience with adults with mental health issues, disabilities, or related experience

Pay

$17 - $19/hour (on weekends); non-drivers $16
