Direct Support Professional / Caregiver – Part-Time, Flexible Hours

About the Role

New Point Life Services is hiring part-time Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) at our Carriage home in Mathews, VA, a short drive from Gloucester. This role is ideal for students, parents, or those working a second job. Help adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities live safely and independently while choosing shifts that fit your life.

Schedule

Part-time, 20–34 hours per week. Choose from the following shifts:

• Mornings: 5:00 AM – 9:00 AM
• Evenings: 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM
• Days: 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM (weekdays and weekends)

Extra hours often available.

Pay

$16–$21 per hour.

Responsibilities

• Support individuals according to their Individual Support Plan (ISP)
• Assist with personal care, hygiene, dressing, and daily routines
• Help prepare meals and encourage healthy habits
• Drive individuals to appointments and community activities
• Administer medications following agency procedures (training provided)
• Perform light housekeeping and laundry
• Complete electronic progress notes and report any changes in health or behavior

Qualifications

• Compassionate, patient, and dependable
• Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs and meet the physical demands of the job
• Valid driver's license and ability to pass a background check

Preferred (Not Required)

• High school diploma or GED
• 1 year of experience supporting people with disabilities
• Active Virginia CNA, NA, or PCA certification
