Job Description

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) / Caregiver Float provides direct care for individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD) within residential group homes in Eugene/Springfield. This is a full time, permanent position. Schedule for shifts will change based on needs of programs, however schedules are given two weeks in advance (no oncall responsibilities). Schedule is for swing/overnight shifts.

Qualifications

  • 1+ years of DSP/Caregiving experience is required.
  • Experience in residential setting and with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities is strongly preferred.
  • Must have valid driver's license & vehicle to travel between programs and provide transportation to clients.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule (open availability and weekends is required).
  • Must be available to work swing and overnight (NOC) shifts as needed.
  • Must be able and willing to learn different supports, from medical to behavioral.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must be able to provide references.
  • Able to attend two weeks of PAID in-house orientation and training.
  • Have a passion to help others through person-centered care.
  • People-oriented and have a team approach.
  • Dependable, adaptable, and flexible.

  • Assist patients with activities of daily living, including dressing, bathing, grooming, toileting, and eating.

  • Perform housekeeping and laundry duties.
  • Provide mobility and transfer assistance, which may include using mechanical lift devices.
  • Aid in transportation needs for community outings, appointments, and errands.
  • Implement positive behavior supports and de-escalate challenging behaviors when needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
