Direct Support Professional / Caregiver – Day Program, Mon–Fri

About the Role

New Point Life Services is hiring Day Program Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) in Mathews, VA, a short drive from Gloucester. You'll spend your days with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities — building life skills, volunteering, exploring the community, and celebrating real progress together.

Schedule

Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM — no nights, no weekends.

Pay

$16–$21 per hour, based on experience and certifications.

Responsibilities

• Support each person's goals based on their Individual Support Plan (ISP)
• Teach daily living, communication, and social skills
• Lead community outings, recreation, and volunteer activities
• Help with personal care, mobility, and meals when needed
• Give medications following agency policy (training provided)
• Keep accurate electronic notes and daily service records
• Build good relationships with individuals, families, and community partners

Qualifications

• Energetic, patient, and encouraging
• Reliable and professional
• Comfortable with basic computer documentation
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs and meet the physical needs of the job
• Required: valid driver's license and ability to pass a background check

Preferred Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• 1 year of experience supporting people with disabilities
• Active Virginia CNA, NA, or PCA certification
• Background in teaching, coaching, childcare, or recreation
