Direct Support Professional

Under the supervision of the Team Leader, the Stabilization Home Services Independent Living Coach provides supervision, guidance, and assistance to individuals served by Trinity Services. This role fosters an environment that encourages learning and independence, facilitating personal outcomes in a dignified, respectful, and professional manner.

Responsibilities

• Promotes a living environment that respects those served and treats them with dignity and respect.
• Advocates for the rights of individuals served and supports them in a consistently encouraging manner.
• Provides supports and assistance to maintain a safe and healthy living environment.
• Offers opportunities for individuals to make choices and develop independence.
• Encourages the development and maintenance of friendships and age-appropriate leisure activities.
• Ensures proper medication administration and documentation.
• Coordinates necessary medical attention for individuals served.
• Provides transportation for individuals to jobs, appointments, and personal tasks while maintaining vehicle safety and cleanliness.
• Respects the privacy of those served and reports health concerns to the Team Leader.
• Implements assigned Individual Service Plans (ISPs) and ensures appropriate daily routines (e.g., rising/bedtime hours, meals, clothing, hygiene).
• Assists individuals with daily living skills, including grooming, laundry, meal preparation, and household tasks.
• Supervises and participates in small-group community activities and events.
• Contributes to the development and implementation of Individual Service Plans as part of the Stabilization Home services team.
• Maintains a daily log and communicates effectively with other staff.
• Utilizes approved verbal de-escalation and physical management interventions during crises.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• 1 year of previous Direct Support Professional (DSP) experience in intellectual/developmental disability or mental health field.
• 1,000 hours of direct support work.
• Letter of reference from both a previously supported individual and a former supervisor.
• High school diploma or GED (Bachelor’s degree preferred).
• Valid driver’s license.
• Maintain current CPR, First Aid, and Safety Care certification (if required).
• Pass a reading comprehension test.
• Complete the NADD DSP certification exam within 60 days of hire.

• Operate motor vehicles.
• Perform physical activities such as balancing, pulling, pushing, standing, climbing, grasping, stooping, crouching, crawling, kneeling, reaching, lifting, and repetitive motion.

Pay

$23.05–$23.75 per hour.
