About the role

Join Help at Home as a Direct Support Professional (DSP) and make a meaningful difference in your community. You will provide one-on-one support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, helping them live safely, independently, and with dignity in their homes and communities.

Responsibilities

Help individuals build daily living skills
Participate in their communities
Work toward their personal goals
Encourage participation in shopping, social events, appointments, and other community activities
Support individuals as they work toward personal goals and greater independence
Promote personal choice, self-advocacy, dignity, and respect
Accurately document services, activities, and progress
Communicate with team members to provide consistent, high-quality support

Requirements

Candidates must be at least 18 years old
Meet at least one of the following requirements:

A high school diploma or equivalent
Completion of a state-approved training program
Demonstrated competency and a passing score on the required written competency test

The ability to successfully complete required background checks and in-service training

A valid driver’s license

Reliable transportation with proof of insurance, vehicle registration, and inspection

The ability to provide safe and respectful support in individuals’ homes and communities

Compassion, reliability, and a commitment to helping others

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent

Demonstrated competency and a passing score on the required written competency test

Skills

Ability to read, understand, and follow each individual’s Individual Support Plan
Ability to report updates, progress, and concerns to the IDD Program Specialist
Ability to assist with daily living activities such as cooking, cleaning, grooming, hygiene, and transportation
Ability to encourage participation in shopping, social events, appointments, and other community activities
Ability to support individuals as they work toward personal goals and greater independence
Ability to promote personal choice, self-advocacy, dignity, and respect
Ability to accurately document services, activities, and progress
Ability to communicate with team members to provide consistent, high-quality support

Pay

Competitive pay: $18-$20 per hour

Experience-based starting pay: Relevant direct support, caregiving, or healthcare experience is considered when determining your starting rate within the posted range
