Direct Support Professional

About the role

Join Help at Home as a Direct Support Professional (DSP) and make a meaningful difference in your community. You will provide one-on-one support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, helping them live safely, independently, and with dignity in their homes and communities.

Responsibilities

• Help individuals build daily living skills
• Participate in their communities
• Work toward their personal goals
• Encourage participation in shopping, social events, appointments, and other community activities
• Support individuals as they work toward personal goals and greater independence
• Promote personal choice, self-advocacy, dignity, and respect
• Accurately document services, activities, and progress
• Communicate with team members to provide consistent, high-quality support

Requirements

• Candidates must be at least 18 years old and meet at least one of the following requirements:
• A high school diploma or equivalent
• Completion of a state-approved training program
• Demonstrated competency and a passing score on the required written competency test
• Candidates must also have:
• The ability to successfully complete required background checks and in-service training
• A valid driver’s license
• Reliable transportation with proof of insurance, vehicle registration, and inspection
• The ability to provide safe and respectful support in individuals’ homes and communities
• Compassion, reliability, and a commitment to helping others
