Chart a Course to Success: Become a Direct Support Professional!
We're not just looking for someone to fill a job; we're seeking a navigator, a guide who can help individuals with disabilities chart a course toward greater independence, community inclusion, and a truly fulfilling life.
Responsibilities
- Empowerment Advocate: Plan and support individuals in a wide range of daily activities, from vocational training and personal living skills to recreational outings and community integration. Help them discover new interests, build confidence, and become more independent.
- Health and Safety Champion: Assist individuals in maintaining healthy lifestyles, monitor their well-being, and ensure a safe and clean environment. Be a key observer and report any changes in their health or behavior.
- Life Skills Coach: Provide training and assistance in everything from healthy dietary choices to personal hygiene, adapting your approach to meet each individual's unique needs.
- Communication Hub: Stay connected with the team by checking and responding to program messages daily.
- Performance Partner: Observe, evaluate, and provide feedback on individuals' performance in group settings and work assignments, helping them develop valuable skills and build self-esteem.
- Transportation: Safely transport individuals to activities, work, and home, adhering to all GAAMHA safety policies.
- Record Keeper: Accurately document progress, observations, and other important information in our electronic records system, ensuring compliance with all regulations.
- Team Player: Actively participate in required training and maintain a professional demeanor at all times, reflecting GAAMHA's values and commitment to dignity and respect.
Requirements
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in human services or working with individuals with disabilities is a plus, but your genuine desire to help others is what truly matters.
- Fluency in written and oral English. Bi-Lingual candidates a plus!
- A clean CORI (criminal record check).
- A valid driver's license and a good driving record.
