Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Implement individual treatment, education and behavioral plans using a variety of methodologies and best practices based on the needs of the individual.
• Achieve active engagement of individuals in meaningful activities according to their individual functional levels.
• Accurately and timely document progress in meeting goals and objectives, personal care, behavior reports, and health and safety as required by the program.
• Maintain a safe and organized training area that supports learning and personal growth.
• Proactively address challenging behaviors using positive behavior interventions to promote improved behavior while supporting individuality.
• Support individuals in educational/classroom, recreational, social, and community activities based on preference and individual plans.
• Maintain the health and safety of the individual at all times, reporting unsafe conditions, environments, and equipment to a Supervisor.
• Monitor for injuries or bruises and follow incident reporting procedures including documentation and submission of reports to a Supervisor.
• Assist individuals with special health care and personal care needs.
• Evaluate individuals for changes in emotional and/or physical status and report concerns to a Supervisor.
• Educate individuals about their rights and ensure they are protected.
• Use person-first language and treat individuals with dignity and respect.
• Dress appropriately and professionally for the responsibilities of the position.
• May provide transportation to individuals served, maintaining a valid Arkansas Driver's License and current car insurance, completing annual Rules of the Road training, and obtaining a CDL if required.
• Complete annual training as required by Easterseals Arkansas and program licensing agency.
• Comply with federal, state, and local laws and regulations pertaining to Easterseals Arkansas.
• Observe individuals for changes in emotional and/or physical status and report concerns to a Supervisor.
• Evaluate individuals for changes in emotional and/or physical status and report concerns to a Supervisor.
• Ensure that each individual’s rights are protected.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
• CNA license required.
• Valid Arkansas Driver's License (if required to drive).
• First Aid and CPR certification within the first 90 days of employment and maintained throughout employment.
