CW's Core Values: Mission Driven, Teamwork Makes Us Stronger, & Everyone Brings Value!
About the role
We are looking for a caring and reliable Direct Support Professional (DSP) to join our Day Program team, where you will support adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and help them build independence, engage in the community, and enjoy meaningful daily activities.
- Help adults with disabilities with daily needs such as eating, grooming, using the restroom, and moving safely throughout the program.
- Teach and support skills like communication, social interaction, and daily living by modeling positive behaviors, encouraging participation, and guiding individuals through everyday tasks.
- Lead and join group and one-on-one activities—such as arts and crafts, games, music, exercise, and life-skills lessons—to promote learning, confidence, and fun.
- Support participants during community outings, volunteer opportunities, and recreational activities.
- Drive the company van to safely transport participants to outings like bowling, parks, museums, and other community events.
- Keep participants safe by following all health, behavior, and emergency procedures.
- Accurately document daily activities, progress, and any incidents.
- Attend required trainings and ongoing professional development to maintain skills and certifications.
- Follow all program policies, state regulations, and ethical standards.
Requirements
- No experience required; we provide all the training you need.
- Comfortable working with adults with disabilities.
- Willingness to learn new skills, follow guidance, and take part in ongoing training.
- Ability to assist with personal care and physical support as needed.
- Must have a valid Real ID.
- Must have a valid driver's license.
Physical, Environmental, & Emotional Demands
- You'll be active throughout the day, which may include walking, standing, bending, lifting up to 25 lbs, and helping individuals with mobility needs.
- You may assist with personal care tasks such as hygiene, dressing, or feeding, depending on the needs of the individuals you support.
- Driving a company van is part of the job, so you’ll need to be comfortable behind the wheel and able to safely transport participants to activities and appointments.
- The environment can be lively and fast-paced, with group activities, outings, and occasional changes in routine.
- You'll work both indoors and outdoors, including parks, community centers, and other public spaces. Weather conditions may vary.
- Emotionally, the role requires patience, empathy, and a positive attitude. You’ll be supporting individuals with varying abilities, behaviors, and communication styles. Some days may be challenging, but the rewards of building relationships and making a difference are deeply fulfilling.
- You'll need to stay calm under pressure, be flexible with unexpected changes, and maintain a supportive and respectful approach at all times.
Reasonable accommodations can be provided.
