Direct Support Professional

About the role

As a Direct Support Professional (DSP) at Arc Herkimer, you will enjoy getting out and about with individuals, creating a loving home atmosphere, teaching and assisting with daily skills, empowering individuals through skill-building, leading hands-on activities, and providing companionship and assistance in emergency situations.

Responsibilities

• Enjoy getting out & about with individuals shopping, attending sporting events, going to the movies, zoo trips, visiting friends, and more
• Create a loving home atmosphere by teaching & assisting with cooking, cleaning, and independence in daily skills
• Empower individuals through skill-building, including independent living, money management, and helping to achieve personal goals, hopes, and dreams
• Lead hands-on activities, such as games, crafting, athletics, and music
• Provide companionship, assist in emergency situations, and maintain health & wellness

Requirements

• Must be 18 years old or older
• Agency-approvable driver’s license
• No prior experience or diploma required

• Strong interpersonal skills
• Ability to teach and assist with daily living skills
• Knowledge of basic first aid and CPR

Pay

Starting rate $18 - $21.

Schedule

Full time, part time, and per diem (relief) positions are available.
