Responsibilities

• Aid in advancing clients' decision-making, productivity, and participation in a variety of daily activities.
• Facilitate clients' inclusion in positive community experiences.
• Promote independence in daily activities while being mindful of clients' intellectual and physical disabilities, assisting with meals, cooking, household maintenance, grooming, and dressing, as assigned.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of clients’ needs.
• Maintain positive communications and relationships with supervisor, clients, landlords, employers, involved family members, Regional Center, D.O.R., and other individuals in the community.
• Transport clients to appointments, community activities, or other locations as needed, ensuring safety and timeliness during travel.
• Participate in the evaluation of clients through completion of task analysis and other requested assessment devices.
• Document required activity records, reports, incidents, and client evaluations in a timely, complete, and accurate manner as required.
• Provide positive advocacy when the individual’s preferences, needs, or talents are neglected or overlooked.
• Address challenging behaviors proactively and respectfully, using methods outlined in plans and training.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• At least 18 years of age.
• Aptitude for confidentiality, organizational skills, and good interpersonal skills.
• Certification in an approved First-Aid and CPR class; or successful completion within 45 days of the date of hire.
• Successful completion of pre-employment drug screen and background check.
• Ability to travel within and throughout the counties in which services are provided a minimum of 75% of the time.

Schedule

A Direct Support Professional works as scheduled by the Regional Manager and/or his/her designee. His/her schedule may be either part or full time, depending on the needs of the clients and Adjoin. Overtime may be required as dictated by operational needs, however, no holiday or overtime may be worked without the prior approval of the Direct Support Professional's supervisor.

License

Insured, registered vehicle in safe working condition, and proof of current CA driver’s license.
