Direct Support Professional and Job Coach

About the role

PathPoint is hiring part‑time Direct Support Professionals (DSP) and Job Coaches to support adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the Santa Barbara area. Staff help individuals strengthen workplace abilities, build life skills, and develop meaningful relationships. This position is a great starting point for careers in social work, special education, occupational therapy, or nursing, with opportunities for advancement within PathPoint.

Responsibilities

• Independent Living Services DSP: Work one‑on‑one with individuals in their homes, teaching skills such as cooking, grocery shopping, healthy living, exercise, budgeting, money management, scheduling medical appointments, and coordinating benefits.
• Supported Employment DSP / Job Coach: Work one‑on‑one with individuals at their place of work, supporting successful employment, coaching on job responsibilities, assisting with training, helping individuals grow, and navigating coworker or supervisor relationships.
• Provide flexible scheduling options, including day, evening, and weekend shifts.

Requirements

• Patience, compassion, and positivity.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Prior experience supporting individuals with disabilities is preferred but not required.
• COVID‑19 vaccination (including booster) required; medical and religious exemptions available for qualified individuals.
• Criminal record clearance, TB screening, and basic health screening required.
• Most positions require a valid driver’s license, a vehicle with registration and insurance, and eligibility for coverage under PathPoint’s auto‑insurance policy.

Pay

$24.25 per hour, with additional pay for bilingual staff when needed. Mileage is reimbursed at $0.76 per mile.
