Direct Support Professional (1st shift full time)

About the role

We are seeking a Direct Support Professional to join our Adult Day Program in Swedesboro, NJ. This onsite, full-time position (1st shift, Monday–Friday 8 a.m.–4 p.m.) empowers autistic, intellectually, and developmentally challenged individuals while supporting Bancroft’s mission, vision, and core values.

Responsibilities

• Carry out behavioral treatment plans and collect direct observational data.
• Assist with daily living activities such as personal hygiene, social awareness, meal preparation, money management, and housekeeping.
• Provide personal care and supervision, helping individuals grow and achieve personal goals.
• Teach daily living and functional skills to support transitions to less restrictive residential settings.
• Accompany individuals to healthcare appointments and community outings, providing safe transportation.
• Resolve problem behavior situations using approved crisis techniques and adhere to Bancroft’s safety standards.
• Complete required paperwork and maintain regular documentation.
• Maintain effective communication with residents and their families.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Valid Driver’s License in the candidate’s legal name and current address, with at least one year of driving experience and no restrictions.
• Minimum of six months related work experience or a Bachelor’s degree (or current enrollment) in Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.

Desired Skills

• Passion for working with autistic, intellectually, and developmentally challenged individuals.
• Prior experience with this population preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Pay

The current hiring range is $19.61–$20.00 per hour, plus additional incentives.
