Direct Care Staff/Deaf Services-Resident

About the role

CHD Meadows Homes is seeking Direct Care Staff fluent in American Sign Language to provide direct services to adults with mental illness who are deaf and live independently in the community. The program is located in Springfield.

Responsibilities

• Support clients' activities of daily living
• Administer medications
• Advocate for individuals within various community settings
• Provide opportunities to optimize independence
• Offer guidance and opportunities for community integration

Requirements

• Fluency in American Sign Language
• Education in deaf culture
• Caring, patient, and committed to supporting clients
• Ability to work well within a team model and independently
• Self-motivated and able to communicate needs with the house supervisor
• Computer skills
• Must have a vehicle for work and a current driver's license
• MAP certified or ability to complete medication administration training
• Must complete and pass background record screening process

Qualifications

• BA degree (required)
• 2 years' experience working with people with disabilities (preferred)
