Direct Care Registered Nurse

About the role

The Registered Nursing (RN) position at Sentara Health is a full-time, Monday-Friday role. The RN is responsible for performing competent nursing care using the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care, teaching, health promotion, and evaluation. The role requires clinical knowledge and skills aligned with specific clinical areas and meets all required certifications and licenses.

Responsibilities

• Perform competent nursing care using the nursing process
• Meet and maintain required certifications and licenses
• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure high-quality patient care
• Adhere to Sentara Health’s policies and procedures

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred
• Critical Care/IMCU ACLS within 1 year of hire
• Emergency Care - ACLS & PALS or ENPC within 1 year of hire
• Oncology Care ONS/ONCC or Sentara approved course Chemotherapy & Biotherapy Provider Card within 6 months of hire
• Women's Care - Perinatal departments; NRP within 6 months of hire
• Inpatient Pediatrics. PALS within 6 months of hire
• All Direct Care RN's required to have BLS within 90 days of hire

Qualifications

• Current RN license in good standing
• Experience in relevant clinical areas
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
