Direct Care Monitor - 2nd Shift - Humble, TX
About the role
Direct Care Monitors are responsible for monitoring and observing clients, ensuring their safety and well-being, providing motivational support and guidance, reporting client observations, and supporting treatment plans.
Responsibilities
- Motivational support and guidance to assist clients in meeting therapeutic goals
- Ensures clients' safety and well-being
- Reports client observations to treatment decisions
- Makes observations regarding medication self-administration and breathalyzer administration
- Schedules and coordinates client transportation
- Aids in planning client interactive events
- Provides security for the medical building
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Experience in corrections, security guard, security officer, home health aide (HHA), direct support professional (DSP), caregiver, or substance abuse counseling is a plus
- Valid driver’s license in state of residence and good driving record required
- At least 21 years of age
- Ability to work overtime and occasional weekends
- Physical requirements: ability to walk or move about facilities for up to two hours at a time, to monitor and interact with clients; ability to speak with others to exchange information and provide support; ability to proofread and check documents and files for accuracy on a regular basis; ability to respond to telephones and pages, and to hear and detect alarms and unusual noises

About Our Atascocita Location (Harris County)
Gateway’s largest facility, Atascocita is a residential correctional center focused solely on substance use treatment for court-ordered clients. With 12 buildings and nearly 500 clients, the facility provides a structured, secure environment without armed guards. Staff work collaboratively in a team of 170, including counselors, probation officers, and support staff. The location is undergoing major renovations to become a state-of-the-art treatment center.
