Direct Care II (DOH/LLCP #56637+)
Why does the job exist?
This position will provide highly skilled services to developmentally disabled and/or mentally ill individuals in a residential, home-based & community setting. Incumbent will monitor individuals medical, physical and emotional well-being, participate in treatment programs and assist with personal hygiene, as well as technical assistance to less experienced technicians. Incumbent will also be responsible for daily documentation to include services performed, individual's condition and progress.
How does it get done?
The key responsibilities for this position are to provide and mentor daily living skills while ensuring the health and safety of the individual served. Employees in this position are required to provide these services in a 24/7 setting.
Who are the customers?
Adult individuals who are developmentally disabled and could display behavioral challenges and/or medical challenges.
Employment Requirements
- Position is designated as safety sensitive.
- Subject to pre-employment and random testing for alcohol and/or drugs in accordance with federal and state law.
- Must have and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's License and a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate.
- Must complete HIPAA training.
Working Conditions
- Work in an office setting and in the community-based homes of the individual.
- Ability to lift/push/transfer and/or carry up to 50 pounds without assistance and over 100 pounds with assistance.
- Exposure to unpredictable violent behavior of the individual.
- Daily driving is required to meet the needs for individuals served.
- Occasional overnight stay may be required.
- Essential functions include sitting, standing, walking, bending, and reaching.
