Direct Care II (DOH/LLCP 14774+)
Salary: $18.69 - $28.04 hourly / $38,885 - $58,327 annually. This position is a Pay Band C3 and may be used to fill multiple vacancies throughout Valencia County.
About the role
This position provides highly skilled services to developmentally disabled and/or mentally ill individuals in residential, home-based, and community settings. The incumbent will monitor individuals' medical, physical, and emotional well-being, participate in treatment programs, assist with personal hygiene, and provide technical assistance to less experienced technicians. Daily documentation of services performed, the individual's condition, and progress is required.
Responsibilities
- Provide and mentor daily living skills while ensuring the health and safety of individuals served.
- Deliver services in a 24/7 setting, including occasional overnight stays.
- Monitor and document the medical, physical, and emotional well-being of individuals.
- Assist with personal hygiene and provide technical guidance to less experienced staff.
- Maintain daily documentation of services, individual conditions, and progress.
- Drive daily to meet the needs of individuals served in community-based homes.
- Lift, push, transfer, and/or carry up to 50 pounds without assistance and over 100 pounds with assistance.
Requirements
- High School Diploma and one (1) year of experience related to the essential duties of the classification.
- Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience totaling one (1) year may substitute for the required experience.
- Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver’s License.
- Must possess or obtain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico.
- Successful completion of Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) training is required.
- Employment is subject to pre-employment and random drug/alcohol testing.
- Employment is subject to a criminal background check and is conditional pending results.
- This position is designated as safety-sensitive.

Working Conditions
- Work is performed in an office setting, community-based homes, and other locations as needed.
- Exposure to unpredictable or violent behavior from individuals served.
- Daily driving is required; specific geographic location varies based on agency needs.
- Extensive use of computers, phones, and Visual/Video Display Terminals (VDT).
- Essential physical functions include sitting, standing, walking, bending, and reaching.
Pay
$18.69 - $28.04 hourly / $38,885 - $58,327 annually.
This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement, and all terms/conditions of that agreement apply.
