Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Provides patient support in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team.
  • Observes and demonstrates respectful and courteous demeanor when communicating with patients, potential patients, referral sources, staff and visitors at all times.
  • Demonstrates honesty and integrity at all times in the care of the patients and the use of the facility property.
  • Facilitates the movement of patients around the building and grounds in a safe and orderly fashion.
  • Affords assistance with admission and discharge procedures as required.
  • Maintains an awareness of the safety and security of the facility and refers potential risks to a supervisor or Administration in a timely manner utilizing the chain of command as the situation warrants.
  • Oversees the patients’ general housekeeping chores with participation in light housekeeping as needed.
  • Ensures that the units meet the cleanliness standards established by the organization.
  • Demonstrates the ability to prioritize tasks and responsibilities and complete duties in the allotted time.
  • Utilizes principals in de-escalation of potential crisis situations.
  • Participates in staff meetings and other ad hoc meetings as required.
  • Adheres to existing program/policies and procedures.
  • Consistently arrives for work on time and adheres to the program’s attendance policies.
  • Strictly adheres to HIPAA and confidentiality policies when responding to inquiries for patient information or copies of information.
  • Maintains adequate knowledge of the program’s emergency preparedness plan and emergency procedures.
  • Provides transportation for patients and in support of program operations using the program vehicle as directed.
  • Conducts alcohol and drug screens on patients using an approach that demonstrates respect and dignity for the patients, while ensuring appropriate screen collection procedures are followed.
  • Observes the self-administration of medications by patients as necessary and completes all medication self-administration documentation accurately.
  • Participates in and completes all required mandatory training.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience in substance abuse or mental health field preferred.
  • Must have excellent verbal, social and writing skills.
  • Must display the use of appropriate independent judgment to determine appropriate course of action in resolving problems and in emergencies.
  • Must be able to express self adequately in written and oral communication and to communicate effectively in an interdisciplinary, culturally diverse setting with patients, families, staff and regulatory agencies.
  • Must have basic ability in use of computers to be able make entries and utilize electronic health records.
