About the role

The primary job of the Director of Christian Education is to mobilize the people of Emmanuel for the work of fulfilling their baptismal promise to the children and youth of the church (birth to 17) to “guide and nurture them by word and deed, with love and prayer, encouraging them to know and follow Jesus Christ.”

Responsibilities

  • Mobilize the congregation to support the spiritual formation of children and youth.
  • Facilitate relationships that foster spiritual growth among children, youth, and their families.
  • Encourage parents in their role as primary educators of their children’s faith.
  • Guide and nurture children and youth through word and deed, with love and prayer.

Requirements

  • A disciple of Jesus with a call to ministry in the area of spiritual formation.
  • Experience in working with children and youth, preferably in a church setting.
  • Strong communication skills to engage with parents and children.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate individuals to deepen their faith.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in education, theology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in a similar role.
  • Experience in leading and facilitating group discussions and activities.
  • Knowledge of Christian education methodologies and best practices.

Skills

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with children, youth, and their families.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $50,000 - $60,000 annually, depending on qualifications and experience.

Schedule

The Director of Christian Education will work a flexible schedule to accommodate the needs of the congregation and the children and youth they serve.
