Join a high-impact engineering role focused on defining and driving dimensional accuracy for autonomous vehicle sensor systems across multiple vehicle platforms. This position plays a critical part in ensuring sensor integration supports safe, reliable performance through strong collaboration, technical rigor, and thoughtful cross-functional problem-solving.
Responsibilities
- Own dimensional management activities across multiple vehicle programs and sensor integration efforts.
- Lead the definition of functional requirements for vehicle builds and sensor-related commodities.
- Develop and refine datum schemes, tolerance strategies, and sensor mounting approaches to support stable calibration and assembly.
- Perform 1D and 3D dimensional variation analyses to assess design feasibility and identify risk areas.
- Review and approve metrology fixture concepts for internal teams and suppliers.
- Define measurement strategies and validation points from individual components through full vehicle assembly.
- Partner with supplier quality and engineering teams to evaluate capability, address concerns, and support program targets.
- Provide clear technical feedback to support vehicle architecture and assembly readiness.
Requirements
- 8 to 10 years of experience in dimensional management, variation analysis, or metrology.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Fixture Design Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of GD&T and ASME Y14.5 principles.
- Experience creating, reviewing, and improving complex technical drawings.
- Hands-on experience with CATIA V6 and 3DEXPERIENCE for model interrogation and reference geometry creation.
- Solid understanding of manufacturing processes and vehicle assembly sequencing.
- Working knowledge of statistical process control, standard deviation, Cp/Cpk, and gauge R&R studies.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical findings clearly across teams.
Preferred Skills
- Experience supporting autonomous vehicle, aerospace, or advanced robotics programs.
- Familiarity with sensor systems such as LiDAR, radar, and cameras.
- Background in supplier collaboration and PPAP-related quality processes.
- Experience translating dimensional data into actionable design or architecture recommendations.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with multiple concurrent programs.
Pay
The pay range for this role is $67 - $103 per hour based on qualifications and experience.
