About the role

The position is responsible for setting up, adjusting, operating, and maintaining press equipment. You will perform all make-ready tasks associated with the type of press operated, including hanging plates or installing cylinders, examining plates/cylinders for imperfections, checking for correct positioning of images, prepping blankets, adjusting tension and register, and making necessary color corrections or press adjustments prior to production runs to meet quality specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, adjust, operate, and maintain press equipment.
  • Perform make-ready tasks such as hanging plates, installing cylinders, examining plates/cylinders for imperfections, and ensuring correct image positioning.
  • Prepare blankets, adjust tension and register, and make color corrections or press adjustments to meet quality specifications.
  • Clean, lubricate, and maintain the press, including minor repairs and replacing worn or broken parts.
  • Perform periodic maintenance as recommended by the manufacturer.
  • Determine the most appropriate press usage, settings, and materials based on job specifications and press capabilities.
  • Make precise adjustments to controls, settings, and equipment for optimal performance.
  • Apply knowledge of packing pressure to achieve proper printing pressure for each job.
  • Use a micrometer to mount and align printing plates correctly.

Requirements

  • Thorough knowledge of offset printing procedures, materials, specifications, equipment, and safety requirements.
  • Ability to read and understand job specifications and determine appropriate press settings and materials.
  • Skill in making precise adjustments to controls and performing routine operational maintenance and minor repairs.
  • Knowledge of packing pressure requirements for different types of jobs.
  • Proficiency in using a micrometer to mount and align printing plates.

Schedule

1st Shift: 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Rotating schedule of 3 days one week and 4 days the next week, including working Saturday/Sunday every other week.

Pay

Starting pay range: $20.00/hr - $26.00/hr. The actual rate of pay may vary based on education, skills, experience, proficiency, performance, shift, and location. Total compensation may also include overtime and shift differential.
